Intercede Health Physician Advisors typically
- Work with and directly support Care Management department initiatives
- Participate with Care Management Committees
- Review individual cases, including denied cases, to evaluate appropriateness of admission or length-of-stay
- Utilize and support standard published criteria and Hospital guidelines
- Formulate medical necessity appeal letters
- Communicate with attending physicians regarding resource utilization and quality issues
- Provide ongoing education and information to medical staff colleagues regarding best practices, care management structures and functions, and use of clinical guidelines
- Coordinates directly with Hospital Administration to support Hospital clinical initiatives
- Review Care Management reports and performance measurements
- Identify opportunities for improvement in patient care, clinical documentation, resource utilization, and reduction of denials
